Reception at the airport of Puerto Maldonado, meet our bilingual naturalist guide, transfer to the port where a covered boat will take us for about 1 hour downstream from the Lower Madre de Dios River towards Nai-Mecí Lodge. From the boat you can observe cocoi herons , white herons, large herons, black, turkey and yellow headed vultures, giant thrushes, eagles and others. During the tour the guide will offer an introduction to the jungle itself. Immediately after your arrival, a free time to relax in our fabulous bungalows and lunch. A first walk through our interesting trail system where you can spot festive coquettes, blue crowned motmots, leaping comets, black wreckage billed. Dinner, talk about this first experience in the Amazon jungle and an informative session for the next day’s plans. As an optional one night short walk to observe insects and amphibians. We will spend the night in Nai-Mecí Lodge.
Breakfast is offered from early morning.Once more of our motor boat you can observe many different species of birds on the way to the control of the park rangers and the entrance to Lake Sandoval in Tambopata finds the Reserve. We start a 3-kilometer hike through an interesting trail until the lake itself and look for blue-crowned trogons, Agami Herons, ivory-billed aracaris, reddish hermits, squirrel cockoos, and then small-table canoes and paddling trying to observe monkeys , turtles, bats and with luck the giant otter family. In this fabulous lake it is possible to observe tiger herons, cocoi herons, cormorants, anhingas, red cardinals leveled, amazon kingfisher, surrounded kingfisher, Leddered aracaris, sungrebes and many others. Box Lunch. We walk back to our motor boat and Nai-Mecí Lodge.
After relaxing we can walk the trails having the opportunity to see front brown chestnut, blue and yellow macaws, white collar thrushes, parrot nests and an amazing jungle sunset. Dinner and overnight at Nai-Mecí Lodge.
After breakfast, we will undertake a one day boat trip (with lunch on board) to the macaw clay lick or Collpa. On our way along the Bajo Madre de Dios River and the border between Peru and Bolivia we enter the Heath River and this incredible ecosystem of the Amazon rainforest and the pampas, we will observe animals like white alligators, turtles, many families of capybaras and a wide variety of birds such as red cardinals with cape, sand color night hawks, Ledger tail tailed, ocellanted poorwills, surrounded kingfisher and many more. We arrive at a beautiful beach where we camp installation and enjoy dinner.
Once again, very early, we will visit a hidden refuge to observe the collpa wall and wait for the arrival of parrots, parrots and macaws. It is possible to easily observe crowned yellow parrots, blue-headed parrots, orange check parrots, peach with parrot façades, mealy parrots, tui parrots, cobald-winged macaws, red and green macaws. We will have the opportunity to see an impressive sunrise. We will return to our camp for breakfast, then pack and board our motorized river boat upstream from Nai-Mecí Lodge. Time to have lunch on a relaxing walk
After breakfast we left Nai-Mecí Lodge. Our boat will take us to Puerto Maldonado Puerto and then continue by bus to the airport. End of our services.
