DAY 01: Cusco

Meet upon arrival and transfer to your selected hotel. Remaining morning free to rest in your hotel in order to avoid altitude sickness. In the afternoon, we will visit the City of Cusco on a guided sightseeing tour visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. Then, we drive out of the City to visit the Inca sites of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, strategically built on a hill overlooking Cusco, famous for its enormous carved stones, some of them standing over 9 m / 30 ft high and weighing over 350 tons.

DAY 02: Full Day Sacred Valley of the Incas

Breakfast. Full-day excursion to the "Sacred Valley of the Incas", by the Vilcanota River. We will have the opportunity to share closely the peasants' customs and bargain with vendors at the typical indian market of Pisac, held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Lunch in a local countryside restaurant.

After lunch, passing through the Towns of Calca and Urubamba, we visit the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the Valley, and protect it from possible invasion from the tribes in the Lower jungle. The Fortress consists of a series of stepped carved stone terraces accessed by long staircases. Later on you can walk through the quaint streets of the nearby Town, and get a good idea of what this Strategic Military, Religious, and Agricultural Centre was like during the era of the Inca Empire.

 

DAY 03: CUSCO: AGUAS CALIENTES
Breakfast
Early in the morning, transfer to station to aboard the train to Aguas Calientes
In the afternoon, you can go to “Aguas Calientes” thermal bath (optional)

DAY 04: TOUR MACHU PICCHU/CUSCO
Breakfast at the hotel
In the morning, ascend in bus to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and visit to the lost City of the Incas an impressive Inca citadel built on a mountain, rich in flora and fauna. Its name in English means Old Mountain. It has also been called the Lost City of the Incas, as it was unknown to the outside world until Hiram Bingham revealed its existence to the West in 1911. It was built in the 15th Century and its attributed to Inca Pachacutec. The site is divided into sectors covering approximately 20 hectares. The agricultural sector consists of terraces up to four meters high cut into the mountain sides. The urban sector is made up of open spaces and buildings, including the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana or solar observatory, The Temple of Three Windows, The Main Temple and the Condor Sector. There is also an impressive carved monolith three meters high and seven meters across the base, known as the Sacred Stone.
Descend to Aguas Calientes in bus.
Lunch in Aguas Calientes.
In the afternoon return to Cusco by train and transfer to the hotel.
Night at the hotel.

 

DAY 05: Cusco
After breakfast, transfer and assistance on your departure.
