Peru: Santa Rosa de Quives expects 20,000 visitors

According to its Mayor, Limber Huapaya, Santa Rosa de Quives (where Isabel Flores de Oliva, or Saint Rose of Lima, lived during her childhood), is getting ready to welcome almost 20,000 visitors due to the religious festivities on Saint Rose’s honor.
He told the press that all the activities will take place outdoors, and facilities have been set to allow everyone wash their hands often, in order to minimize the risk of spreading any kind if virus, such as AH1N1.
“We haven’t had any single case of AH1N1 here,” he remarked.
Pilgrims are already arriving in town (Eve’s Mass is scheduled at 7:30pm) but the main celebrations (procession, gastronomid festival and bullfighting) will take place tomorrow.
Travelling to Santa Rosa de Quives is one of the most traditional Catholic pilgrimages in Peru.
Lima, Peru’s Barrio Chino expects to receive 10,000 visitors during APEC Summit

The traditional Barrio Chino (Lima’s Chinatown) expects to receive around 10,000 visitors during the Leaders Summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) to be held in Lima in November, the culture director of the Peruvian Chinese Association, Luis Yong, said.
He indicated that businesses in the Barrio Chino were getting ready to welcome visitors with hospitality, especially tourists who come from the Forum’s participant countries.
Yong highlighted that about eight million Peruvians are of Chinese descent, and this community is considered the most important of South America.
He pointed out that one of the expressions that better represent the cultural mixture of both millennial origin communities is the gastronomy, which will be used as a way of integration, seizing the opportunity of the visit of China’s highest authorities, led by the president Hu Jintao.
